Lyran Tal Press Terms of Service

The world of Lyran Tal, the Crosswinds Tavern chat room, and the Lyran Tal forums are intended for mature, responsible role-players, writers, and audiences. By participating, you agree to the following general guidelines:

Above all, we expect our players and writers to treat each other and the setting with respect.

As to content, stories on the forums, actions and speech in the chat room should fall generally under a "PG-13" rating. That is to say that minor language, violence and adult themes may be explored. Explicit language or sexual content, graphic or gratuitous violence, harassment and hate speech are not allowed.

Out of Character content (known as OOC) is to be kept to IMs, emails, and Out of Character areas of the forums. OOC content or conversation does not belong in the chat room or in the IC (In Character) folders on the forums.

For further information on free form role-playing conventions, we encourage you to visit What is Free Form Roleplaying?

Violations of guidelines are subject to disciplinary action depending on the situation. While we will make every effort to be fair, the leadership of Lyran Tal reserves the right to make decisions at our own discretion. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us.

Specific terms of service information for the chat room and for the Lyran Tal Press forums are as follows:

Chat room role-play:

The chat room used by Lyran Tal Press, "Crosswinds Tavern," is accessible through AOL and AIM, and users are subject to AOL/AIM Terms of Service (please see AOL's Terms of Service and/or AIM's Terms of Service) at all times. As a service of AOL/AIM, the chat room is not owned or operated by Lyran Tal Press. While we make every effort to be involved, to monitor activity in the chat room, and to foster a positive role playing experience, an LTP Host cannot constantly be present twenty-four hours a day, nor can we control the behavior of all participants at all times. By participating in play in the Crosswinds Tavern chat room, you acknowledge this and agree that you do not hold Lyran Tal Press liable for the content of the chat room.

Lyran Tal Press does have standards of behavior and conduct for participants in the chat room that go above and beyond those of the AOL/AIM Terms of Service (listed above), and by playing here you agree to follow them.

The Lyran Tal Press Forums (message boards):

The following Terms of Service Agreement must be agreed to when you register to participate on the forums. It is included here as a reference.

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above; they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).

Lyran Tal Press Forum General Guidelines

Administrators, regional leaders, moderators and members all represent the long-standing online community that is Lyran Tal Press. We are all charged with helping to foster a message board that is informative, useful, positive, and entertaining.

We, the staff of LTP, are not perfect. And because we are a volunteer force, we are not available twenty-four hours a day to constantly monitor every post and every word as they appear. But we are enthusiastic, and we are dedicated. And we will make every effort to act in the best interests of the Lyran Tal community.

Please keep in mind the following guidelines and rules when posting to the LTP forums:

  • Use common sense and courtesy.
  • Though we highly doubt that any of our members would violate the official TOS listed above, we ask you to be familiar with it just the same.
  • Using the LTP forums for any type of advertising or solicitation is not allowed. Violators will be banned. (Or possibly face having their profile edited so that they are advertising something far more entertaining for the rest of us.)
  • Know where posts should go. Read the folder descriptions, and if you still aren't sure then please feel free to ask. In particular, note that:
    1. OOC posts are not allowed in IC folders, though authors may make brief OOC notes at the beginning or end of a post if they think it is necessary.
    2. The administrators reserve the right to move a post or thread to a more appropriate place if necessary, and will let you know either by direct contact, or by a notation on the boards. Sometimes this will happen because a conversation that started out about one thing has turned to a different subject and we understand that.
    3. In some cases, particularly where we feel the folder guidelines were purposely ignored, we may simply delete the thread or post.
  • Regional leaders monitor the folders for their region. If they feel there is a problem with a story (IC post) that you have posted (such as it going against the established setting), that regional leader will contact you privately. If the issue is judged minor, the regional leader will give you the information you need in order to edit the post yourself to be more fitting. If the issue is of greater importance, the RL may remove the post or thread. However, the RL will still contact you with reasons why this was done, and give you the chance to edit and re-post if possible. RLs will NOT edit IC posts for you.
  • RESPECT. At times, our community members will have disagreements, and there may be debates over certain topics. A healthy debate or disagreement, where the participants use respectful language and avoid insults or derogatory comments, is fine. Arguments that seem to be going nowhere will be curtailed by the Lyran Tal Press staff at their discretion, either by closing a thread, re-directing it, or by simply asking members to focus energy elsewhere. Name-calling, insults, heavily sarcastic comments and other disrespectful posts will be deleted. In such cases, the poster will be notified privately and will be given the opportunity to rephrase their post if they wish, and put it back up on the boards. Repeat offenders may be asked to leave the community. Moderators will NOT edit posts in the OOC folders.
  • When actions are taken, the moderators will make a copy of the original post for the administrators in case there is some question about it later on.
  • If in doubt, refer to the first rule.
